Violet Voss Violet's Secret Wepon Adhesive and Glitter Review
I received Violet's Secret Weapon Loose Pigment and Glitter Adhesive plus five glitters (Misty, Piper, Brooklyn, Wendy and Rose) all in this cute bag from Violet Voss Cosmetics. You can also check them out on Instagram @shopvioletvoss #violetvoss, they've featured some of my looks!Let's get started and I'll let you know my thoughts.
Violet's Secret Weapon
Violet's Secret Weapon Loose Pigment and Glitter Adhesive is a transparent adhesive that can adhere pigments and glitters to your face (I've used it on eyes and lips) or body. Violet Voss is also cruelty free.
Let's start off with the adhesive.
Texture: This adhesive has a very different texture from the other adhesives I have tried. It has the consistency of shampoo, so it is more versatile. With this texture you can suspend glitter in it or "paint" the adhesive on and pat glitter over it. (I personally prefer the latter) It starts out with a shampoo consistency and then in about 20 seconds it goes tacky. You then have about 30-40 seconds before it sets.
Does it work: This works well, it is moderately easy to apply and holds the glitter well.
Size: Violet's Secret Weapon only comes in the professional size (13ml), which is awesome if you wear a lot of glitter, but it would be nice if there was a smaller size too.
Price: The adhesive retails for $14.99. I feel like this price is good since you only need a tiny bit. However, it does have a six month expiration date.
Packaging : The packaging is practical. It's like a lip gloss tube so it is easy to squeeze the amount needed without contaminating the rest of the tube. The packaging is simple, being just a clear tube with stickers on the front and back. If you're into packaging this won't be your cup of tea, but it's practical.
Overall: 8.5/10 I like Violet's Secret Weapon Adhesive quite a bit. It makes applying and getting glitter to stick a lot easier than other products and it keeps the glitter on well. It is also versatile in both the application of glitter (patting it on or suspending) and in how to use it (eyes, lips, face).
Repurchase: Yes.
Glitters
Violet Voss glitters are cosmetic glitters to be used on the face, body and nails. In the United States glitters are not FDA approved for use in the immediate eye and lip area, so use at your own risk. They come in many colors and they even have new ones releasing for fall. Violet Voss glitters are also cruelty free.
The glitters come in these little pots.
The Violet Voss logo is printed on the top.
There is a bit of tape connecting the lid when you first get your glitter. I think this is smart since you wouldn't want a glitter mess during shipping.
The pots have sifters so you don't get way to much glitter at once. The sifters come sealed.
Here are the glitters together: Wendy, Rose, Misty, Piper and Brooklyn all swatched over Violet's Secret Weapon Adhesive.
Wendy: Fine cut glitter, clear glitter with multicolored reflects. I love to use this to add a hint of glitter to any look or as an inner-eye corner highlight.
Rose: Fine cut glitter, red with red reflect. This glitter is lovely as a a lip color.
Misty: Very fine cut glitter, silver with silver and multicolor reflect. This looks amazing on the lid or as a liner or try adding some to your nails.
Piper: Fine cut glitter, purple and magenta with purple and magenta reflect. I am in love with this color. Put it all over your face! For real, it's lovely on the eyes or on the lips.
Brooklyn: Fine cut glitter, black with black reflect. This is the most reflective black glitter I've come across. It looks awesome as winged liner and one day I am going to do a black manicure with it.
Size: Each glitter pot is 3 grams. I think this is a good size, as I personally know I like to switch-up my colors and I don't wear glitter everyday.
Price: $8 - $8.50 which I think this is pretty fair for the quality. Of the popular glitters out there, this is pretty standard for the amount of product you get. While craft glitters would be cheaper they aren't good to use on your face. Violet Voss glitters are made of polyethylene terephthalate and acrylates copolymer, so they are cosmetic grade glitters.
Packaging: Nicer than the Adhesive packaging, but still on the simple side. Simple, but cute. It has the Violet Voss logo printed on the top and the bottom has the color name, ingredients & other details.
Overall: I quite like these glitters since they are finely cut. I am not a fan of chunky glitters since they can look tacky depending on application. I also like that they have a good reflect. Some glitters I own don't "glitter" well, and can just look like colored specks, while these sparkle. I also like that there are lots of colors to choose from and some are mixed, like Piper, to create unique glitters.
Repurchase: Yes, I would repurchase Wendy, Misty and Piper.
